WHO’S YOUR DADDY?

Husband without a job, due to restructuring and BEE. Rented house, terrible garden. Three girls, one a special needs child, two of them on nappies. I had left my teaching job 3 months before so we could move to Johannesburg, closer to Greg’s work and I could focus on raising our girls...then this! Oh and then I was pregnant...with our fourth child. 😳#interestingtimes 15 years ago this was our Resumé. It is quite some time ago but certain truths you never forget. I remember having to fight a lot of anxiety. You can see the strain on my face in this photo😂🙈! Going to the shops with a R100 to buy food for a week. Okay it was 15 years ago...but God still worked miracles. Getting lots and lots of hand-me-down clothes for me and the girls. Praying with hubby for Provision. Lying on my face on the floor, pleading with God.

Greg had a revelation. He ‘heard’ God say to him that his pride shouldn’t stand in the way of God’s provision through others in this season. Easier said than done. He got a job. One that paid commission, not a salary. Trust me, I wasn’t impressed😏. No security, no pension, no Woollies. Still we somehow(!) always had something to eat, random people paid money into our accounts, we had lots of (hand-me-down) clothes, an old but big enough house, we danced with the kids almost every evening on anything from Rock to Gospel.

Looking back it was a tough time but also a good time. Almost like now. So many *scriptures came alive then and became part of our lives. Looking back we know we discovered who our Heavenly Father is. Not a human who makes mistakes, but a loving Father who cares about our every need and provides enough. And sometimes He spoilt us with gifts from others. Too many to mention. He’s a Miracle Worker. I still see that daily in how He taught me to make something out of nothing. With food, with clothes, with art. Mac & cheese is still a favourite, as is mealie pap & milk. Are we not worth more than the birds and flowers? He takes care of them and will take care of us. It’s a matter of trust I think. In what and who do we trust? Favourite scriptures: #philippians4verses6to9 #1cor10verse13 Amplified #luke12verses22to32 #lamentations3verses21to26 #greatishisfaithfulness
