Rules or Real?

I read LOADS of styling articles due to what I do to help pay the bills.

Every time I see a headline of an article saying: "French girls laugh when American women wear these items" OR :This is what you need to wear to be stylish" I have huge question marks in my mind.

As in ???????!!!!!!! Yes, followed by exclamation marks.

Of course I love reading the info. I even love some of it. SOME.

But I am me. I am not French or American, I am a South African, living in Africa. AND I understand that there’s a difference between following rules and being real.

Being the real McKoy in my case means wearing bright colours when I feel like it and wearing neutrals when I want to.

Wearing my sneakers with dresses, skirts and pants even though I’m 53. Whether it’s what someone else thinks is cool or not.

Being real means I have a budget for clothes and I compromise on quality...a lot!

REAL is a relationship and not a religion.

A relationship with Jesus, myself and others, and also with my body and my clothes.

Therefore I choose not to bow before rules, I’ll rather accept His grace.
