Seeing is (not) believing...
🎧 I can see clearly now the rain is gone
I can see all obstacles in my way
Gone are the dark clouds that had me blind
It’s gonna be a bright, bright sun-shining day...

I love dancing while I’m cooking, bit I don’t do it often enough. Last week I felt it was time. To sway and shuffle up and down in the kitchen, moving from drawer to oven to fridge. You should try it, it’s great fun. And this was my song: I can see clearly now.
While singing and two-stepping, I realized how difficult it is to believe without seeing. Even Jimmy Cliff admits he sees clearly after the rain is gone. While it was cloudy and pouring he couldn’t see...he was blind.
The best definition of FAITH is in Hebrews 11:1 Now faith is the assurance (the confirmation) of the things we hope for, being the PROOF of things we DO NOT SEE and the conviction of their reality (faith perceiving as real fact that which is not revealed to the senses)
Whoa...! My senses are so strong. How do I believe the things God says in His Word if it’s not revealed to my senses??
2 Cor 5:7 in my New King James bible says:
For we walk by faith, not by sight.
The Amplified bible gives more clues on this verse as to how to overrule our senses: it says that WALKING IN FAITH means that we live according to God’s Word AND behave according to what we believe about God and His relationship with us. We do this while trusting and respecting Him.
Our focus should be who God is and walking in His shadow, knowing that He loves us. Our steps shouldn’t be determined by our senses.
Due to the nature of my work I come across so many women who do not read their Bible. Who don’t know what His Word says about Him or His relationship with us. Or who we are in Christ Jesus. No wonder women fall for Satan’s and the world’s lies. They have nothing to compare it with.
‘So Jesus said to those Jews who had believed in Him, IF YOU ABIDE IN MY WORD (hold fast to my teachings and live in accordance with them) you are truly my disciples. And you will know the TRUTH and the Truth will set you free - John 8:31-32
Aha, another clue: hold fast to Jesus’s teachings, in other words KNOW what Jesus said, and live according to them. THEN you’ll be able to tell between a lie and Truth AND THEN the Truth will set you free.
Maybe I must cut Jimmy Cliff some slack? He continues to sing, ‘Here is that rainbow I’ve been praying for.’
It seems Jimmy held on the promise of the rainbow even when he couldn’t see it. When all he saw were dark clouds. That’s Faith.
